Josh Nelson

Josh grew up spending his weekends and holidays on the North Shore of Lake Superior, filling his time hiking, fishing, and exploring the northern part of Minnesota—where he discovered his passion for the outdoors.

During college, he worked at an outdoor center where he led backpacking trips and skill-building events. His love of the outdoors paired well with his enthusiasm for teaching others about the natural world. During summers away from the outdoor center, he spent every day scuba diving throughout Minnesota, cleaning up lakes for boaters.

He likes to stay busy working as a smoke chaser for the Minnesota DNR, leading educational tours at the University of Minnesota Raptor Center, and tending to his prized basil and sunflower plants. When he’s not doing any of those, he’s walking around with his bird field guide and newly purchased Facebook Marketplace camera lens, hoping to spot any and all birds.
