hit the trail for big city mountaineers
Big City Mountaineers partners with the Ragnar Trail Relay series to help raise important funds and awareness for BCM’s youth programs through our Summit for Someone program. These fun, team-based challenges are a great way to get involved with Big City Mountaineers, find adventure, and give back.
As a member of one of the Ragnar Trail Relay teams, you will join 7 other energized individuals on a mission to both fundraise and train for these unique races in some of the most beautiful parts of the country. You’ll become a part of a community of dedicated outdoorists who are also committed to making wilderness mentoring experiences possible for under-resourced youth.

Ragnar Trail Rainier
August 28, 2020 - August 29, 2020
Escape the city for an unforgettable running adventure at Ragnar Trail Rainier, August 28-29. Your team of 8 runners will conquer the trails at Crystal Mountain, just two hours outside of Seattle. Set up camp and tackle a series of three trail loops on National Forest land conquering the course relay-style for two days and one night. These trails are some of the most challenging in the series (think 2,700 feet of climbing).
You’ll get epic views of Mt. Rainier, while you run through high mountain alpine lakes, waterfalls and flowing creeks, the beauty will make every step of the journey worth it. From the breathtaking views to the unique mountain top hand-off, there’s not another race quite like it.

Ragnar Trail Wisconsin
September 18, 2020 - September 19, 2020
Ragnar Trail Wisconsin is back and it’s still the best running party under the stars. Runners come together on Sept. 18-19, 2020, at Nine Mile Forest – nestled ten miles outside of Wisconsin’s outdoor mecca, Wausau. Nine Mile Forest is known for cross-country ski trails but when the snow melts, there are miles of epic single-track running trails waiting just for you.
Your team of 8 runners will set out to conquer a series of three challenging trails that meander under a canopy of oak, pine and birch trees. And when the sun goes down, run the night away with headlamps and a billion stars lighting the way. Just because this is the Midwest, doesn’t mean the route won’t be technical as you hop over roots and rocks, so get ready for a challenge.
