BCM T.E.A.M. CURRICULUM

This curriculum is intended to provide a framework for the Big City Mountaineers experience by supporting the natural emotional journey that teens typically go through during these eight days. The T.E.A.M. (Trust, Endure, Achieve, Meaning) acronym targets the phases that the teens will likely experience. The BCM Trail Handbook supplies a variety of activities that will support these phases, and in turn strengthen the teens and the overall energy of the team. Please realize, however, that not all teens will follow this pattern. Although typical, this emotional journey will not apply to every BCM youth. For an idea of the emotional journey that an adult may be likely to experience, refer the "First Time Volunteers" presentation in the training section. In addition, there are several rituals that have become traditions on all BCM trips to familiarize yourself with before the trip. Incorporating these rituals into the trip truly defines the overall experience in a way that will leave a lasting impression on both youth and adults.
