Join the BCM Challenge
Many of our supporters and volunteers believe strongly in Big City Mountaineers’ mission to “enhance the lives of under-resourced urban teens through transformational outdoor experiences,” and want to raise money for our cause. The more donations and financial support Big City Mountaineers receives, the more teens are able to experience these transformational backpacking expeditions.
The BCM Challenge is an opportunity for you to challenge yourself with a race, ride, or climb while also raising funds for under-resourced urban youth. You decide on the challenge and we will provide the online platform for you to raise money from friends, family, and colleagues. Contact us and get started today!
Pursue your dream, cross something off your bucket list, and help those less fortunate to get out in the wilderness and develop some dreams of their own.

Why Fundraise?
If you think of yourself as just a fundraiser, you’re selling yourself short. Successful fundraising accomplishes so much more. It’s a way to spread the word about your cause. You become an ambassador who is increasing awareness, education and passion for this cause – because it’s yours. It’s an opportunity to feel empowered in your own life by changing the lives of others. It’s a way to teach others to be good stewards of their community and their world. Fundraising is rich with possibilities when you set your goals high and have the tools to accomplish them.

Current Challenge Campaigns
Ben Gipson Ben Gipson is a former Summit For Someone climber, and he liked the challenge of climbing Mount Rainier and the challenge of raising money for BCM back in 2008. In 2010, he decided to take a year to raise $10,000 for BCM and run a marathon in March, complete a triathlon in July, and decide on and complete two more events in the fall and winter.
REI 8000 Meter Challenge REI San Francisco will be entering a team in the Jansport 8000 Meter Challenge which will be held September 9, 2010. It is an event put on by Jansport each year for employees of outdoor retailers. The challenge is hiking 38 miles, as you summit the three tallest peaks in Southern California (Mt. Baldy, San Gorgonio and San Jacinto) in a 24-hour period.
Climbing Volcanoes Two months of trekking around Annapurna last year awakened in D’Nita Carbone a hunger for climbing, and she’s planning to climb several volcanoes in the Cascades near her home in Oregon in 2010. Along the way, she hopes to raise awareness, and money, for BCM, to provide the chance for teens to experience “the wonders of our wilderness.”
